First Day Of Filming
When filming at point hill we got off to a slow start, we got there and the space was occupied by young boys smoking canabis, so we had to ask them to move as Giselle was too embarrassed to sing and perform in front of them. Giselle was a little embarrassed to be so close to the camera so we got a few bloopers at the start with laughing. But as we got into the gist of things the filming got easier and Giselle got more comfortable in front of the camera we got a lot more filming done including a range of different shots

Making an AD (The Hype)
The song is rated as the second most popular song on Itunes, they might have not used the best song as to give people incentive to listen to the whole song.
The AD has 47,226 Views in which 20,000 of them were produced in the build up to the music video for the song
CD Release
The Album Release of RED by Taylor Swift sold 1.2 million copies in its first week in the US. October 2013, the album had sold over 3.83 million copies in the United States.
People that buy the physical disk usually don't like to buy songs online as they either don't like to use money online or they prefer to have a physical copy they can take with them and can give to someone to borrow. The main difference is that even know you can damage the CD and you have to get a replacement from the shop or buy a new one, a digital version you just download the song an unlimited amount of times, however digital copies can have restrictions on how many devices you can download it too in order to prevent piracy.
There is also the fact that you cant get a signed copy of her album if you brought the digital copy

Itunes
On Itunes Taylor Swift had the Number 1 album on release. The Applications allows to to buy the song and then download it straight to your device. This is much easier and lazier than going to the shop and buying the album. More so that if you go to the shop it could have been sold out or the shop could just not sell it entirely.
Itunes has a rating and review page so that you can see peoples opinion of the song/album before buying it. Also their is a related page that shows and updates on what people who brought the song also brought including her other songs and similar artists. Using Itunes to sell copies is good way of selling songs as other artists songs may have you in there related page which means more people hear the artists music.

On the Radio
Many Singers appear on the radio for promotion of their album UK artists usually go on BBC radio 1 and do a live performance.
The latest video on BBC 1 live lounge is a cover of James Arthur covering the Arctic Monkeys - Why'd You Only Call Me When You're High. He sung this song as well as his single, You're Nobody 'til Somebody Loves You on the same day. This was broadcasted live for the whole of Britain to watch as well as a video that is put on their website, this gives him a lot of free publicity and provides entertainment for the BBC as well.

Weathering the storm
We Plan to record on the 28th of October.
It does not look good however. It seems like there is a chance of rain on Monday which would mean that we cannot record on this day putting us behind.
We could according to the BBC record before 14:00 as it will rain for about 3 hours. We could then just wait till the rain stopped to continue recording at night.

Detailed Risk Assesment
For our risk assesment I need to take in various things for consideration, such as areas we will be filming in - are they safe?
Our main points of filming are at
These areas are safe as they are in the public eye. We just need to make sure we go at times where the crowds are not too heavy so we don't run the risk of bumping into people and knocking over any equipment. We also have to check weather forecasts so we know what type of weather we will be dealing with, such as rain - this will require an umbrella.
We also need to also pay attention to our equipment whilst filming, we will always have one person controlling the camera, and the other making sure that we are getting good shots, and vice versa. We cannot under any circumstances leave anything unattended, and when we've finished filming we will make sure we have all our equipment safely packed!

Reflection On Progress Blog
At the moment I have been pretty consistent with my blogging, I have done everything on the list plus a few other bits and bobs. I do however need to keep track of how many blogs I post and how often I do it, as I know it is very easy to fall behind with blogging!
I am currently happy with the amount I have and also the effort I have put into them as I think they are very detailed and well explained blog posts!

Synergy
How will I incorporate Synergy?
Well, the lyrics to Roc The Life by Rita Ora inspire our target audience to be in a position like she is, dominant, young and powerful, therefore we chose our synergy to be based around jewellery, it is the connotation of wealth and is a simple and easy idea to run through all our video and album covers etc.
We have a specific necklace that would work well with this, along with the rest of the jewellery I will be wearing in the video.

Pictures Taken on Our First Day of Recording
A Shot of the Backdrop we were going to use, we were waiting for some people to finish walking their dogs and playing in the area to record.
Another Image of the backdrop allot of bushes hide the smaller houses and shows the large buildings in the background.
One of our Shots recording Valentina Singing, You can see that it is getting darker in the background and we are using the DEDO lights so that you can see her properly.
This is a shot of us shooting at night with all the lights from the buildings on.

First Filming Session we went to point hill so we could use the buildings as a backdrop.
Another shot of the backdrop.

Music Videos That have influenced our idea for a music video
This is the where the idea of the shot for our artist walking down the road, the shot starts off with the artist walking away from the camera then cuts to a shot where she is singing directly at the camera walking towards it.
This Rita Ora video was our main inspiration of the idea of a skyline as a backdrop we thought i would look good if we went to point hill a place where you can see most of central London's iconic buildings.

Pitch Evaluation
Information
I thought that we did well portraying our initial concept and our ideas for the music video we should however made it more clear about who our initial ideas are from.
I feel that we could have used better pictures for each slide to show our idea better, we also could have embedded our video links and animatic instead of having to open it outside of the prezi this would have made the pitch much smoother and more professional looking. Also another idea picked up when looking at other groups was that it could have been a good idea to have some practice shots of our artist wearing her costume. Also a quick website or poster would have been good in showing off synergy.

In for the kill locations (or not)
Brief Break down of La Roux in for the kill showing the different shots and locations. never mind
As you can see their is not a lot going on in the video, 4 years ago this is what people expected to see out of music videos, technology and editing has allowed music videos to grow using special effects newer transitions more locations.
Katy Perry Roar is a good example on up to date music videos, showing of props just as plane debris, exotic locations such as a jungle and animals. Their is the now standard costume changes and a more narrative approach to the video as well as some high end special effects.

Review of Indepentent labels vs major record labels
Universal Music Group is an major record label is a conglomerate owned by owned by Vivendi, It is the second largest music group in the world.
The company mostly focuses on business deals and contracts and tries to sell as many digital copies as possible from A-list artists, they do not show less known artists as they want to make as much money as possible and this can only be done by attracting the majority of the consumers to buy their bands products.
Independent music groups such as XL recording however have much more focus on the artists.
On the front page of the website it has recent news of the artists and information on a new song in bold.
The website also features a recent video made by one of their artists.
The top of the websites are links directly to the artists websites which all of them can be accessed by the first page, the website is more user friendly and seems to be designed for a music fan instead of being designed to show off achievements and branding for their company.

Animatic
This is our Animatic for our music video. We drew pictures and synced the music to show what shots and locations would be shown at each point of the song.
We have locations such as a street, a river near Southbank and Shots of Point Hill

Slow Motion is Hard :(
This is a song that was speed up by 60% the pitch increased because of it and the song is harder to lip sync.
I then changed the pitch of the song down by 30% and it sounded more like the original however it still seemed jumpy and I didn't want to edit without having done it properly as it could mess up horribly.
Turns out I lied i just used the wrong setting change tempo on audacity is the right one the internet is really informative and useful.
Hmm seems that putting the mp3 file on blogger is harder than making the actual blog.
Fixed movie maker still good.

Behind the scenes research on behind the scenes videos.
In addition to tweeting and posting pictures on Instagram I think this is a great was of showing how we are during filming.
Its a must that we put the music in the background while we play the footage it seems like it is a standard with behinds the scenes videos.
Video Inspiration
This is the kind of feel we are going for with the view from point hill with mid shots and close ups of her face to help the audience connect with her and see her as a credible artist. This is also the kind of fashion look that we are going for.
This video has also been inspirational for us because of the imagery of the diamonds. Our video is about "rocking the life" and being on top of the world so we have looked at this video and taken some inspiration from it about the use of imagery and the types of things that we are using.
This is the particular shot that was helpful to us about the types of imagery that we use
This particular video has been helpful in seeing the types of clothing that we are going to use and the range of angles that it is good to use.
This close up shot is good for helping us frame our subject.
Rita ora Analysis
This is the front page for Rita Ora the original artist for our chosen song "Roc The Life" Most of her pages and merchandise have that same kind of font that is on this page and she likes to use black and white contrasted with red.
We will use this kind of similarity and consider the best kind of thing to use when choosing our inter textual items. This is very effective because it stands out from the rest making it easy to determine who she is in comparison to all the other artists in the same genre.
Ideas for location
Rita Ora's Video Shine Ya Light
Features a lot of memorable locations in Kosovo
We got our idea to shoot on point hill as backdrops look good when you focus solely on introducing an artist we decided we will shoot at night because the lyrics reference stars.
We decided that shots of locations were not really suitable for our artist as we wanted the music video to feature her and play around the concept of that she was on top of the world, we thought that we should include our artist in as many shots as we can.
We had ideas of shooting shots of iconic locations such as the London eye and Big Ben but we decided it was a bit to cliche

Inspirations - Lighting
Burn by Ellie Goulding has lighting that I would like to try in our video. The lens flare in this video gives it an extra spark. It could also relate to the larks 'Write my name in the stars' in the song we are doing. This type of filter or lens effect would be good to try out as the lighting in our locations may be too low due to weather conditions; grey and cloudy skies may effect the vibe we are trying to give through our video, therefore a filter might make it look more glamorous.
Pitch Evaluation
On Tuesday the 22nd of October we gave our pitch to our class and audience. It was quite successful but we were a little unorganized and not ready for it. It had all of the main things that we need for our video but it could have been more succinct and had more information in it. This was dissapointing for us but we will be adding updates to the blog.
Social Networking
In order to relate to our target audience we have made a twitter account to help us interact with our fans and fanbase, this will also be helpful in giving notifications to our teachers about our whereabouts and what we are doing on each day of filming.
We also made an instagram account as this is one of the main portals that young people in the age range that we are going for will be using.

Story Board Draft
We thought of the order we would put our shots in sync with the song trying to match the lyrics with the visual but since we were using amplification we decided it was more important showing the artist more so every shot has her in the frame.
Theses are our different shots and locations for our animatic. We only used about 18 shots in three locations the shots will also be the same during the night, but we did not think to duplicate them as i could reuse them in the animatic without needing new pictures.
We decided it was good to reuse the close up of the jewellery as we are using it as a reoccurring theme across branding our artists and making the digipak and advertisement.
