Ancillary Products Do's and Don't's

It is best to stick with the maximum of three colours when you make your Ancillary having more like this picture leads to the product looking random. The fact that gray is only used once draws too much attention to the song titles for no reason.

Having clear fonts that are able to be read helps the first step in selling your digipack is to make sure people know what the name of the album is. Having a title in one font and having the song titles in a different font would have been better, fonts need to be consistant and suit the genre.

This picture is stretched to fit the digipack and because of this the artist is sitting in the middle of the front cover and the position of the artist generally takes up space that could be used for a better picture also because of the fact that it's the centre of the cover the artist name covers part of his face.

This composition is terrible in this it would have been a better if the picture of the main artist was like in frame like the picture below

On the back of the digipack it has to have details such as barcode, copyright information it doesn't have to include price as that usually varies from store to store, should have record company logo and artist website. These things are important but not really worthy of being on the front of the digipak.
Also people want to know whats on the album so putting the song titles helps.

Unnecessary Effects should be left out of the image going over the top using every filter in photoshop would end up with the digipak looking tacky and unprofessional. Make sure that you dont use effects like this.

Cropping instead of changing the size of the image leads to better quality images as you are not changing the original resolution of the image its best to just use a different image if your having problems with the ones you want to place.

Puting text across the artist face if its their first album is just a bad thing to do it makes it look like the artist is not infact important.

Using fonts that match the genre is better than using fonts that dont because simply your album cover will look like its made by a 17 year old student who decided that an urban font would look better than a plain font for an indie song. I doesn't work like that.

Spamming pictures is most probably the fastest way to lose marks  if you think you don't need to have a picture then don't put one there there is almost always a much better way of using that space.
